【Original】Channing Tatum “Interviews” Ellen DeGeneres

"Spending time on social media makes you more productive."---- Erik Qualman

YouTube Channel cut the prime of a show.

I accidentally found this "interview" on Jimmy Kimmel's YouTube channel. To compete with other live shows,  this is a new episode that brought up to invite celebrities to be a host interviewing others.

The posted video is Channing Tatum interviewing another worldwide famous host- Ellen DeGeneres. Unfortunately, this interview turned out to be awkward and unentertaining.

"Don't let the conversation drop on the ground"
One of the essential skills to be a host or journalist is to keep a conversation going. There is even a strict standard for how long the dialogue should break and how many seconds for a dialogue break. In the video, we can see Tatum has no idea how to continue or pick up a hint.

Dominate your Dialogue
Except for the first question Channing threw to Ellen,  for the whole 7 mins, it was Ellen that dominates the conversation by asking questions and picking up the sentences. I don't know whether this is a small trick to let Ellen show her profession, but I do notice several breaks in this conversation.

"Prepare your interview"
Channing was asked whether he was prepared for the conversation. Apparently, he did not. Every question should lead to the central aim of the interview. In this one, I think lead audience to focus on Ellen's personal life or her career path are both excellent content.

ASK GOOD QUESTIONS
At the very beginning, Channing asked Ellen:"What do I do!" Ellen answered:"You talk to me. You ask questions." Yes! That's the essential elements in the interview-- ASK QUESTIONS. A good question helps people think. When I was traveling in SE Asia, I met a friend on road. We kept asking each other questions about our lives, our career, which helped us to think deeper about our decisions and know this world better.

I have to admit Channing Tatum is an excellent actor,  but this interview didn't turn out well. You can see the comparison version by Jennifer Lawrence

Favorite YouTuber Got Attacked. No privacy In Social Media Era?

My favorite YouTuber is Ben Deen, a Korean-American who got adopted by a family living in Chicago,  now goes back to South Korea to be connected with original family. Haven't updated videos in half a month, Ben Deen uploaded a video yesterday telling YouTube what is going on. It turns out he got a severe attack after his very last live stream. A man with black mask rushed into his house and forced him to write down everything that can identify himself so that the attacker can steal them and go to the state making some money. Insane, right? Besides feeling sorry for Ben Deen, I start to think about the privacy and personal security in social media era. It reminds me an old gentleman I met in Vietnman. He told me he didn't have a Facebook account because he didn't want people to find him. At that time, I feel inconvenient because social on Facebook become a habit. However, after studying crisis communication and social media strategy, aligning with my fre...
