Favorite YouTuber Got Attacked. No privacy In Social Media Era?

My favorite YouTuber is Ben Deen, a Korean-American who got adopted by a family living in Chicago,  now goes back to South Korea to be connected with original family. Haven't updated videos in half a month, Ben Deen uploaded a video yesterday telling YouTube what is going on.

It turns out he got a severe attack after his very last live stream. A man with black mask rushed into his house and forced him to write down everything that can identify himself so that the attacker can steal them and go to the state making some money. Insane, right?

Besides feeling sorry for Ben Deen, I start to think about the privacy and personal security in social media era. It reminds me an old gentleman I met in Vietnman. He told me he didn't have a Facebook account because he didn't want people to find him. At that time, I feel inconvenient because social on Facebook become a habit. However, after studying crisis communication and social media strategy, aligning with my freelance reporting experience, I started to fear social media. Everything you post will become evidence that goes against you. No matter whether you delete the original post or not, people can always trace back to you.

Not to mention celebrities like to add location info in their posts which also increase the risk of being attacked by crimes.
